Forum Acusticum 2026 – Graz, Austria

September 2026

I was pleased to participate in Forum Acusticum 2026, held in Graz, Austria, bringing together researchers and experts from across the international acoustics community.

As Chair of the European Acoustics Association (EAA) Technical Committee on Ultrasounds, I contributed to the scientific programme through the proposal and organisation of thematic sessions, promoting scientific exchanges and international collaborations.

Scientific Session Organisation

My involvement focused on fostering discussions on recent developments in physical acoustics, ultrasound, guided elastic waves, non-destructive testing (NDT), structural health monitoring (SHM), and advanced imaging methods.

These scientific activities encouraged exchanges between researchers working on fundamental wave physics and emerging applications in materials characterisation, sensing, and imaging.

Oral Scientific Presentation

I also presented our research entitled:

Detection and Scattering Response Estimation of a Heterogeneity in a Thin Elastic Plate using Lamb Wave Beamforming and Reverberation Analysis

This work investigates the detection and characterisation of heterogeneities in thin elastic plates using guided ultrasonic waves.

The approach combines Lamb wave beamforming with the analysis of reverberant elastic wave fields to study the scattering response associated with local heterogeneities. These developments contribute to ultrasonic imaging methods for non-destructive evaluation and structural health monitoring.

European Acoustics Association Activities

Beyond the scientific presentations, Forum Acusticum 2026 provided an opportunity to exchange with colleagues on the activities and future directions of the European Acoustics Association.

Through my responsibilities within the EAA Technical Committee on Ultrasounds, I remain committed to supporting international scientific collaboration, promoting emerging research topics, and strengthening connections between fundamental research and technological applications.
